School x Work x Life Balance: Some may think it’s impossible, but for those that have done it they know that with a little planning and a lot of dedication, it is more than possible.

In today’s day and age, regardless of if you are in a full-time or part-time program, the demands of school really do take a toll on life. When you add work into this lovely trifecta of school and life, it is a lot to manage. Yet, with a little dedication, a lot of caffeine and a plan, you can narrow it down to a formula of success that looks a little something like this:

1. Create Your Plan of Attack

Before you start a new class, or job, lay out your plan! Be this a planner with deadlines or a more advanced software (here at Splash, we love productivity. As long as you understand when and where your priorities lie, you will be all good.

2. Work Smarter

Yes, it is also important that you work hard, but do it in a way that works for you. Find those #lifehacks that can help you power through your to-do list. That way, you will avoid burnout and get tasks done with ease.

3. Manage Expectations

The most important thing that you can do when you are balancing multiple roles is to talk to those around you. If you can’t do something, let them know! Talk about the situations that you are facing and over communicate before issues become issues!

4. Take advantage of being a student!

The one perk about being a student is that you can totally own that student lifestyle. No one can question why you are sending emails at 3am, because you are a student! Own the discounts, hectic lifestyle and (somewhat) laissez faire attitude that you live, it won’t last for long!

5. Self care

This may be number 5 on this list, but it must be number 1. Being a working student does come with a lot of responsibilities and expectations, but the biggest responsibility is caring for yourself. You must remember that on the top of your to-do list should be “YOU!” Take the time for yourself and always remember that you are awesome.
