SLACK ROUND-UP | JULY – Splash Effect

With several of our team members away on holiday during July (myself included, hence why this blog post is a wee bit late! 🙈), our Slack channels were a bit quieter than usual. However, we have taken a look back through the archives and found some gems. So without further ado, take a look at our recap of some of our favourite articles, talking points and inside jokes from the last month.

1) Post-Brexit News a.k.a Complaining about Nigel Farage

A major topic of conversation throughout the month of June both on our Slack and around the world was #Brexit, and this conversation continued into July as we watched the very fabric of British politics unravel at the seams. One of the biggest waves hit when Nigel Farage stepped down. Needless to say we were all annoyed. In short: a lot of :face_with_rolling_eyes:.

After a short political discussion, the conversation turned to how Farage will likely spend his newly announced retirement…

2) /giphy started to work in our favour

3) Hamza & Kareem got their own icons

When working on an infographic about Splash Effect, we decided that it would be awesome/hilarious if we had icons to represent our cofounders, Hamza & Kareem. Mady, our stellar Graphic Design Intern came up with a few options and used Slack to allow the team to vote for the most accurate representations.

The winners?

4) Learning lessons in negotiation

Slack (and a love of donuts) has turned us all into excellent negotiators.

However, I don’t think we ever got those donuts. Time to pay up, Kareem. 🍩 #DonutGate

5) Snapchat Memories

We were all intrigued by Snapchat’s latest major update, most of us with varying opinions as to its function and usability, both when it comes to marketing and personal use.

But then we got distracted by the entirely too perfect couple in the promo video for the feature…

Mady fell deepest down the “perfect Snapchat couple” rabbit hole, so far that even her cat was judging her – but at least she likes hanging out with us!
